Workout Failure

Well today didn’t go exactly as planned. While getting ready to workout I dropped and lost my contact lense. After spending 30 mins trying to find it I had to give up.

So then I had to wait until a friend come round to help me find it by this point I was already running late for a study session at the library.

So in the first week of p90x and I have already missed a workout 🙁

Shoulders and Biceps

Well yesterdays workout decided it wasn’t done with me yet! I woke up this morning incredibly sore. My quads calfs and hip flexors. I could barely walk down the stairs for my P90X safe breakfast.

Todays workout however was the easiest yet. Perhaps this is related to my weight lifting background but I find it relatively easy. I perhaps dogged it a little and went under on a few of the weights. But I managed to keep up with the video including the bonus round.

The only problem came with Ab Ripper X. I am still unable to keep up with the video but this being week 1 I hold faithful that I will be dominating it soon.

The only disappointment of today was my delivery of supplements. Not only did it arrive 1 day late after I paid expedited delivery it arrived damaged. A quick email to Monster Supplements and they arranged 10% off my next order. Despite this being around the 3rd mishap from Monster Supplements I simply like the company and products to much to change.

Plyometrics

Well I learnt 2 very important lessons today

1. Dont do plyometrics bare foot
2. Dont try and drink V8 straight after the workout

This week will be the first time for all the exercises and today it was the turn of plyometrics.

Boy oh boy does it make you sweat! and also made me realise how much extra body fat im carrying coming back from the states.

The exercises themselves are nice and varied although you do hit the squats heavily. I had to use a few of the subs on around 4 of the exercises and was a little guilty of not being able to match the pace on a few exercises.

I also found the last section where all the moves are based on american sports so alien. Although im not to sure cricket is that cardio intensive, so wont be basing many workout videos on that!

All in all though it was a great workout and I managed to get through it far better than yesterdays.

The diet is getting closer today I did intent on being spot on but my food is yet to be delivered which is slightly annoying as I pid for expediated delivery.

So it begins

After arriving back in the UK I decided to get back in the gym. After my past year cycling between CrossFit and Starting Strength I have decided to try something new.

There has been a lot of buzz on the internet about P90X. Now I will start by saying workouts videos are so far away from my usual style of workout. However I have decided to give it a shot.

I will be following the diet as closely as possible to increase the impact of the workout.

So how did day 1 go?

Well it was a KILLER. I have not worked out in around 2 months thanks to travelling so it was certainly baptism by fire. I started the day out eating a P90X correct diet waited enough time for the food to settle then hit the workout.

The burn begins in the warm up never-mind the actual workout. The advice by Tony Hornton is constantly to pace yourself in round 1. I certainly didn’t heed his advice and went a little hard. Demonstrated by the fact i was posting numbers on a few exercises just short of the people in the video.

So by round 2 I could barely hold the pen to write down my results after each exercise. The workout certainly kicked my ass. I made my way through round 2 utilising 2 extra rest periods.

So onto Ab Ripper X and where it all started to fall apart. 3 minutes from the end of the workout and I was shot. I could no longer lift up my legs to even complete the ab exercises.

So there I lay on the floor waiting for enough energy to get up and grab some much needed recovery food. This is where it really turned bad, I should of checked the use by date on the food BEFORE the workout! I was trying to use up a few supplements I had left over from previous working routines. Bad idea 5 months out of date and nothing diet safe to eat I went unfed until tea!

Thankfully I have got some much needed food arriving tomorrow so I should be able to hit the calorie intake as well as completing the workout.

I did another cheeky weigh in this morning, im not losing as fast as when i calorie count, which is a little disheartening. I really need to start hitting the crossfit as well, my plan is to do this hard once i get back from geneva. Although im sure i will put on at least 4lbs while there 🙁

The Hungarian chicken was nice but a bit overwhelming with the number of peppers i had to eat. Considering i don’t like peppers i did well to get through it all i feel.
